On October 27, 2020, the Hamburg based James Fisher Nuclear GmbH, an international provider of radiometric instruments for contamination and clearance monitoring systems, was acquired by Ludlum Measurements Incorporated (Texas).
Founded in 1962 by Don Ludlum, Ludlum Measurements, Inc. (LMI) designs and manufactures radiation detection instruments and technologies and offers a large array of instrumentation to monitor the safety of personnel and the environment. LMI has significantly invested in research and development to ensure they sustain a high level of competency and excellence in developing reliable instruments. Every year new designs are introduced, while simultaneously maintaining and expanding their large product line.
LMI's vast core competencies include in-house, automated printed circuit boards assembly and plastic injection molding capabilities, as well as the design and manufacturing of photomultiplier tubes and plastic scintillators. Maintenance, service, repair, and training, including on instruments from other manufacturers, round out their business capabilities.
Ludlum GmbH, the rebranded company, develops, manufactures, and distributes instruments for the measurement of radiation. The company was founded in 2017 by a team of highly experienced and globally recognized scientists and engineers, and since 2018 have supplied the market with a range of state-of-the-art products for radiation protection. These products combine an innovative, modular hardware and software design with high quality and user friendliness. The product range consists exclusively of new development in the last three years and incorporate the newest technologies with the latest measurement methods. In addition, Ludlum GmbH offers repair and upgrades for existing clearance and personnel monitors, both for our own products and for products from other manufacturers.
Ludlum GmbH has grown rapidly and very successfully in the European domestic markets and based on this success, they plan to expand and to serve other international markets, in particular customers in North America and in the Pacific Rim. Additionally in Europe, Ludlum GmbH will be able to offer a broad product range based on the LMI product line.
